Korean Beef

This recipe idea was given to me by my friend Katie Dolan!!! Any time anyone has a recipe idea they would like me to try send it on over, I am always looking for new fresh ideas.

This meal is in the 30-minute meal category because it took me 24 minutes to make, which is great for a weeknight meal. The longest part is cooking the rice.


1-1/2 lb of ground sirloin (this is a better grade of meat vs regular ground beef and has a great flavor for this dish)

1 bag broccoli slaw (don’t worry if you do not like broccoli you can’t tell)

3 cloves of minced garlic

1/4 C soy sauce

1/4 C packed brown sugar

Salt and Pepper to taste

Pinch of red pepper flakes

1 tsp Sesame Oil

3 C cooked Jasmine rice (or whatever kind you prefer)

Broccoli Slaw Jasmine Rice


Prepare your rice as directed on package, the rice in above picture took 22 minutes to cook. So this should be cooking while you do the next steps.

Add Sesame oil to a large pan bring to medium heat and add the crushed garlic.  Sautee for a minute just to take the white out, you do not want to burn garlic it will create a bitter taste in your food. Add the ground sirloin and cook until browned. I like to take a little of the grease out at this point by turning the pan to the side slightly and soaking the grease up with 3-4 paper towels. After the meat is browned add the broccoli slaw sautee for 5 minutes. Add the brown sugar, soy sauce, and desired spices. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes and serve on a bed of rice.

Meal as plated 515 calories
